Deep Creek Lake New Year’s getaways are a favorite way to celebrate with family and friends. There are lots of fun activities, festive events, and the mountain scenery makes your trip all the more memorable. It is a truly special way to usher in the New Year.
Our quick guide includes reservation tips as well as events. I’ll keep it updated as area happenings are announced, so be sure to check back often.
–Reserve your home early! I can’t stress that enough. Our homes typically sell out well in advance of the holiday. If you wait until December 1 to make plans, availability will very limited.
-If you are hosting a gathering at one of our homes, take the stress out of the festivities by having it catered or by picking up takeout. Visit our concierge page to see Deep Creek restaurants.
–MoonShadow, in Accident, MD, is hosting a NYE party that features entertainment by Optimus Riff. A $20 ticket covers music, appetizer, dessert, and a champagne toast. Call 301.750.5094 for more info.
-Head to Wisp Resort to ring in 2017 with their house DJ Jazzy Jan. Suitable for all members of the family, there is no cover charge for this celebration. It starts at 8PM in the Main Lodge. Food and drinks (Including Alcohol) will be available for purchase.
-Reserve a spot at The Alley in Oakland, and enjoy a family-friendly celebration filled with bowling, games, pizza, prize drawings and more!
-Benefitting HART for Animals, the Fur Ball 2016 Casino is at Dutch’s at Silver Tree at 6:30PM. You can party for a worthy cause at this event that also features appetizers, a silent auction and favorite games like poker, blackjack, and roulette.
-Dance the night away at the Honi-Honi Bar with music by local favorite The Remedy. Music starts at 8:30PM and there is a FREE champagne toast at midnight.
-DJ Logomatic is the entertainment for the evening at The Boardwalk (AKA the “Round Bar”). The party starts at 9PM.
-See Garrett County’s Terah Crawford Band at Black Bear Tavern from 6PM-10PM. After that, you can see DJ Thoro in the club from 10PM-1AM – and there is no cover for ladies!
NEW YEAR’S DAY
-Start 2017 on the right foot when you pick up bagels or an egg strata from Telli’s Deli. Pro tip: Get the bagels the day before so you can enjoy a leisurely morning after a night of celebrating. I also suggest getting some fresh ground coffee from Trader’s Coffee House.
-Spend January 1st exploring our beautiful state parks with the annual First Day Hike. At 10AM, you can take a 2 mile trek at Deep Creek Lake State Park followed by hot chocolate at the Discovery Center. If you want to sleep a little later, a park ranger will lead you on a 1 mile trek through Swallow Falls State Park that includes Maryland’s tallest waterfall and largest old growth forest. Plus, dogs on a leash are welcome too! The hike begins at 3PM.
Here’s to a very Happy New Year! I hope we see you at the lake in 2017!
P.S. Remember to always celebrate responsibly no matter where you are!
