Art? Wine? Yes, Please!

Art and Wine   If you haven’t already made plans to attend the annual Deep Creek Art & Wine Festival this upcoming weekend (September 11-13th), it’s not to late! Gather the girlfriends or make it a couples retreat & come visit for a weekend full of fun activities. On Friday evening, many of our local dining establishments have planned special wine pairing menus so you can start enjoying the festivities when you arrive. The Wine Festival on Saturday begins at 12 noon and goes to 6 pm while the wine store will continue to stay open until 7 pm. Activities run throughout the day and feature everything from live entertainment, carriage rides, a photo booth and more. Of course there is the reason you came to the festival; the art & wine. Over 30 local artists will be present selling a variety of items like pottery, oil paintings, jewelry, wood carvings and more. Also there will be National Distributors and Maryland wineries there to offer samplings of over 200 different kinds of wine. Definitely something for everyone’s different tastes. The food fare is another great reason to attend. There will be many food artisans there so you can grab a bite while at the festival or choose to take some home with you like Firefly Farms amazing goat cheese or fresh produce and products from Deberry’s Farm. The very best part of the festival? The proceeds go to HART which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets in Garrett County. A huge win-win for everyone! We are now offering last minute discount on all available vacation rental homes so now is the perfect time to call us! A fun packed weekend enjoyed art and wine with your friends or another weekend of doing nothing! Make it Count! We can’t wait to see you at the lake!

On Top of The World

The Garrett County Agricultural Fair has once again come and gone which always seems to symbolically be a sign that summer is coming to an end and the kids will be heading back to school (I suspect that some parents may be looking forward to this.) While it is always sad to see summer ending, it also brings the promises of all of the wonders and joys of fall. Leaves changing, festivals, fall sports, and the list goes on! Not to mention that to see Deep Creek and our mountainous region in a blaze of red, yellow, and gold is absolutely breathtaking. Many of our homes offer stunning lake and mountain views and we look forward to capturing numerous pictures from their decks each year!
Speaking of a home with an extraordinary view and one that is new our vacation rental market, On Top of the World, will simply stop you in your tracks. Taylor-Made employees were honored and thrilled to be invited to a luncheon yesterday hosted by the homeowners, Ray & Diana. Held at their home, this was the first time many of our employees had visited the home and there was not one person who did not “Ooh and Aahh over the sheer grandeur of this magnificent mountain home. Large, expansive windows provide you with one of the most panoramic views of Deep Creek Lake including that of the Glendale Bridge (which looks amazing lit up at night). Luxurious furnishings and décor flow throughout the home including lavish bedding throughout the bedrooms. You will truly feel like you are living like royalty when you stay here. The gourmet kitchen truly looks like something out of Pinterest or a magazine. Additional amenities outside include a fire pit, a gazebo, and a huge hot tub which lights up at night as well! Absolutely amazing! To Ray & Diana, we thank you so much for your kind generosity. The food was delicious (everything from the pasta to the salad to the cookies was divine!) and your company was delightful. Quite simply, we love your home! We are excited to give our guests the chance to experience Deep Creek in a truly premiere home such as On Top of the World!
Labor Day will be here before you know it and our homes are booking quickly. We are now offering 3 nights for the price of 2 so call today! We can’t wait to see you at the lake!

Why are you not here?

We are officially in the fall season as the air tends to dip lower in the evenings and the trees are starting to take color. In a few weeks, our leaves will begin to peak just in time for our annual Autumn Glory Festival, which is by far, my favorite Garrett County tradition! Days of fun-filled activities and definitely something for everyone in your group. If you haven’t planned your fall getaway yet, this is the place to be! Days of craft shows, classic car shows, antiquing, Farmer’s Market are just to name a few! The festival is highlighted with a grand parade that winds down through the streets of Oakland, our county seat! Marching bands, clowns, elaborately festive floats, music and the list goes on! Balloons, souvenirs, delicious food vendors, and well…. I said that the list goes on! It’s just such a fun family friendly atmosphere that you must see to believe! If you can’t make it that weekend, please mark a weekend in October to come up and witness the breathtaking fall foliage that is Deep Creek Lake. It’s phenomenal and so peaceful here this time of year! Okay, now the thought is in your head…a weekend at Deep Creek Lake! Are you dialing yet ?
