Get the Best Price on Your Deep Creek Lake Vacation Rental

Best Price Taylor-Made Homes

When you’re searching for the perfect Deep Creek Lake vacation rental for your family, there are a variety of things you look at – Does it have the right number of bedrooms?  Is it in the location that you love best?  How many can it accommodate?  Of course, the most important criteria is the price of the home and if it is within your budget.

Recently, HomeAway, VRBO, and VacationRentals implemented a “traveler fee” to reservations booked through their websites.  It varies from 4%-10% of the total value of the booking (not to exceed $499).  When booking through these sites, you can review the fee by looking at “view details” of the booking section.

Why pay more for your vacation when you don’t have to?

We list our homes on these sites in order to give our properties maximum visibility.  In light of this recent change, we encourage you to make your reservations for Deep Creek Lake vacation homes directly through or call 1-866-351-1119.

We appreciate our guests and understand that vacations are an investment.  We always want you to get the best value when you choose one of our homes.

Bob Holcomb has over 23 years of experience in golf course construction including the impressive Lodestone Golf Course on top of Wisp Mountain. He quickly fell in love with Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County. As a Buyer Specialist, he uses his extensive knowledge and wisdom of the area, to assess his client’s needs and is a true asset to the Real Estate Team. Taylor-Made is a family-based business that treats their employees and clients with integrity and respect.  You can feel the positive and professional aura when you walk through the door.  With the combination of a strong support staff and the use of cutting-edge technology, I think we can represent a significant portion of the real estate market share at Deep Creek Lake.”

An Exciting Announcement from Our Deep Creek Real Estate Team!

New Owners of Taylor-Made Real Estate
Standing: Jay Ferguson, Joe Refosco, Chad Taylor Seated: Jodi Taylor Refosco, Betsy Spiker Holcomb

There has been a whirlwind of enthusiasm swirling around the Taylor-Made offices these days! The obvious being the snowfall we received this week and that Wisp is now ready to handle the many skiing enthusiasts that are joining us in the mountains this weekend! Not only does Wisp have a bevy of fun filled activities going on, it’s also the perfect time to go hiking in the numerous State Parks in our area! We are looking forward to greeting our guests and helping them plan an adventurous weekend!

Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales is also very excited and pleased to welcome Betsy Spiker Holcomb as the co-owner of our Deep Creek Real Estate Division. Betsy, who was born and raised in Garrett County, brings a vast knowledge of Garrett County and an extensive background of Real Estate experience with her.

Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations hit a milestone in 2014 with the expansion of a new Real Estate Division to the company. Acknowledging that a large portion of vacation rental homes were on the real estate market, it seemed only sensible to create a “one stop shop” for both buyers and sellers to handle all of their real estate and property management needs. Proudly welcoming well known Real Estate Agent & Sales Broker Jay Ferguson as co-owner, this vision quickly came to fruition. The company has continued to thrive and the Real Estate Team was proud to say that by the end of 2015, over 55 homes were sold with $16 million in volume.                                                                                                             Office with Wisp in Winter

Recently, Betsy made the choice to become co-owner of the Taylor Made Real Estate Company. Jay stated, “I am thrilled to add Betsy to our Taylor-Made family. It’s incredibly rare to add an agent with such an established brand and with such vast experience, let alone her production in our market. Perhaps the most impressive to me is her hands-on involvement in our community and her commitment to excellence.” Betsy, we warmly welcome you to the Taylor-Made Family!

Good Deeds & Santa Claus!

Well, it’s official. We are not going to have a white Holiday this year. Since this is clearly not something that anyone can control, I think that we should just embrace it and take advantage of how comfortable it is outside. No need to dress in multiple layers and put on a snow suit just to go to the store. On the serious side though, it is nice that we can still go to the state parks and hike around. People are still jogging down Deep Creek Drive and there are several activities going on at Wisp right now (mountain coaster, canopy tours, Segway tours, and the ice skating rink). Besides if you are a last minute procrastinator and still having shopping to do, it’s much easier to lug your shopping bags from store to car when it’s not 10°. It will snow soon and balance will once again be restored to our mountain life. Nursing Home Donation
Taylor-Made employees once went above and beyond for our Holiday donation this year! Each year we choose a different organization or family in need to shop for! Every department pulls together to get the items on their assigned list. This year we choose to donate to Dennett Road Nursing Home, a local nursing home here in our area. We gathered boxes and bags of everything from crosswords puzzles, body wash, socks, blankets, calendars, CDs, and list goes on. It says a lot about our employees and why we are so proud of them. They give often and always in abundance. The satisfaction for everyone is knowing that we helped give to someone in need at this time of year. So, this is a big Thank You & Shout Out to our Taylor-Made Family!
untitled-4   Speaking of Taylor-Made, our annual tradition of Santa Claus stopping by the office will be happening on December 24

A Pat on the Back & Snow?

Exciting things have been going on at the Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales office lately. The first is a shout out and giving props to ourselves! Recently voted #3 in Best New Websites for 2015 by VRM Intel Magazine, we are rather proud of our newest accomplishment. If you haven’t had the chance to check out our new website, please do . Not only is it very User Friendly but the guests are able to basically access any information about the house they are interested in reserving. Bright, bold pictures help you get the complete visual and the list of amenities lets you know what to expect the home to provide. This can be very useful throughout the year but one prime example of this is if the home has Air Conditioning or not. Because our temperatures tend to run lower than most of our surrounding cities, some of the homes do not have AC and simply rely on open windows and ceiling fans. An important fact to check on if this is an essential amenity for you and your guests. Have a really picky and somewhat fussy multi-family that you will be hosting? Go on the interactive floor plan so that you can maneuver your way around the home. This is great when you are trying to figure out sleeping arrangements or just to see the general layout. We’ve also added lots of great local information, your rental information and some fantastic photos as well. Well worth checking out.

The Thanksgiving holiday is quickly approaching and we highly encourage those visiting us during that time to stop over at the Garrett County fairgrounds for the Festival of Trees on the 27th and 28th. Featuring all kinds of beautifully decorated trees, wreaths, crafts and more, it is truly like walking through a winter wonderland. The kids will love getting their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as getting to sit in Frosty’s sled. A very fun, family friendly way to start off this festive time of year!

Speaking of getting ready for festivities, if you are one of those guests that love to take advantage of Black Friday Specials, then don’t forget to keep an eye out for our mass e-mail, website, and Facebook for some incredible deals on your next Taylor-Made vacation (1-866-351-1119 if you would like to speak to one of our Reservationist!) The weatherman has been whispering the “S” word over the last few days so there is a chance we may see some of the fluffy stuff this weekend. A perfect time to come to the mountains, give us a call. We can’t wait to see you at the lake!

A Conference & A Halloween Celebration!

Hard to believe we are already closing out the month of October. Next stage: Snow. At least more than likely we will start to see little flakes here and there. The temperatures are starting to dip at night which means it’s “let’s be lazy & lounge around the fireplace” time. Many of our vacation rental homes have either a wood fireplace or a gas fireplace, as it is a popular amenity that is often requested when a guest is trying to find the perfect home. If you have questions regarding what your home has, please feel free to call in and speak to your Reservationist or go online and check under the Amenities Section. ( or 1-866-351-1119). VRMA 2015

The Taylor-Made Team recently returned from the Annual VRMA (Vacation Rental Managers Association) conference held in New Orleans this week. It’s always an incredible informative and fun conference which gives us the chance to network and share ideas with others in our industry. It’s also a huge eye-opener on how incredibly large and expansive the Vacation Rental Industry really is! The chance to take classes, boot camps, round tables and presentations by the best in the business is always exciting! The fact that this year is the 30th Anniversary of VRMA definitely added to the excitement.

Halloween Taylor Made 002

Our Taylor-Made Family also got in the Halloween spirit today by dressing up and having a pizza party. Major props are going out to our entire Owner Representative staff who embraced the fun and dressed as Cat in the Hat and Thing #1 through Thing #7! A huge thank you to the Taylor-Made bosses for once again treating us to lunch. (If you happen to still be in the area and are hungry, stop by! Someone left it up to me and I clearly over-ordered (normally those maintenance/ hot tub techs/ and lawn care crew devour it all!) Speaking of which, we would like to wish everyone a festive and fun Halloween and certainly hope that you get nothing but treats & no tricks. Don’t forget to change your clocks back an hour this Sunday as well (Spring Ahead; Fall Back!). Give us a call and let us help you plan your next Deep Creek adventure. We can’t wait to see you at the lake!

A little savage, something new, and a festival!

Sunrise-2BWe are sailing into fall and are now starting to see the first changing of the leaves. This weekend is the big SavageMan Triathlon where athletes flock to our mountainous area to tackle our hills with their bikes, swim in Deep Creek and race down our roads! Definitely a competitive sport and one that is intense to watch! Of course we welcome these athletes and their families with open arms! We love that they can participate in such a great charitable event and experience the beauty of our area at the same time. We are also being gifted with dream like weather this week with bright blue skies and lots of sunshine. Temperatures have been ideal and in the mid-70s. This is also the perfect time for evening bonfires. Many of our vacation rentals have outdoor fire pits so if you are planning on visiting us, make sure you let your Reservationist know this so she can help you find one with this particular amenity. Call us at 1-866-351-1119 or go online and click this option when you are putting in your requirements for your search. Speaking of going online, have you checked our newly launched website. As before, it is very user friendly but also has a fresh new look. Not only is it easy to search for a home with your certain criteria but you also see our vacation packages, check out our photo gallery, read our policies and procedures and more. You can also easily navigate over to our Real Estate section for those that are thinking of buying or listing a home. As I continue to somewhat boast, there is also a very thorough and informative 3D virtual floor plan that we now offer for our homes (not all have one right now but they all will in the near future). This is a great tool to have when you trying to see if a house would work out for you and your family. You can go in and maneuver throughout the rooms and floors, perfect for trying to decide who may be sleeping where. I highly recommend you check out (plus it’s kind of fun!)
The Autumn Glory Festival will be here shortly. The entire festival kicks off on Wednesday October 7th and the big parade held in Oakland is Saturday the 10th. There are so many fun filled family activities to do that weekend! By tradition if you do join in the celebration, don’t forget to pick up your turkey dinner. There are numerous dining establishments in the area who join in with awesome local tradition and offer a full turkey dinner with all of the trimmings! Again, give us a call and let us help you find your Deep Creek home! We can’t wait to see you at the lake!

Art? Wine? Yes, Please!

Art and Wine   If you haven’t already made plans to attend the annual Deep Creek Art & Wine Festival this upcoming weekend (September 11-13th), it’s not to late! Gather the girlfriends or make it a couples retreat & come visit for a weekend full of fun activities. On Friday evening, many of our local dining establishments have planned special wine pairing menus so you can start enjoying the festivities when you arrive. The Wine Festival on Saturday begins at 12 noon and goes to 6 pm while the wine store will continue to stay open until 7 pm. Activities run throughout the day and feature everything from live entertainment, carriage rides, a photo booth and more. Of course there is the reason you came to the festival; the art & wine. Over 30 local artists will be present selling a variety of items like pottery, oil paintings, jewelry, wood carvings and more. Also there will be National Distributors and Maryland wineries there to offer samplings of over 200 different kinds of wine. Definitely something for everyone’s different tastes. The food fare is another great reason to attend. There will be many food artisans there so you can grab a bite while at the festival or choose to take some home with you like Firefly Farms amazing goat cheese or fresh produce and products from Deberry’s Farm. The very best part of the festival? The proceeds go to HART which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets in Garrett County. A huge win-win for everyone! We are now offering last minute discount on all available vacation rental homes so now is the perfect time to call us! A fun packed weekend enjoyed art and wine with your friends or another weekend of doing nothing! Make it Count! We can’t wait to see you at the lake!

Saying So Long to Summer! Make the last days count!

The local kids in our area recently returned to school this week along with many other counties here in Western Maryland. Seems too early for school but at least we have another weekend to squeeze in some summer fun before Labor Day arrives. If you are visiting our area for the week, don’t forget to stop by the Farmer’s Market in downtown Oakland on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am – 1pm. So many great choices of fresh fruits, veggies, baked goods and more. Because every vendor doesn’t come every week (although most do), you always get a variety of different tables. There was a vendor from Pennsylvania there on Wednesday that was pedaling some stunning pottery pieces. Candles, handmade carved wooden crafts, quilts, and list goes on. It’s also a great chance to check out some of the neat shops in Oakland like the Book Market & Antique Mezzanine which offers everything from the latest best sellers to a large selection of kid’s books and toys. The back of the store showcases some amazing antiques for sell. Definitely a neat store and worth the stop! It’s a perfect time to capture some of the charm of our small town flair.

If you haven’t made your plans for Labor Day yet, I suggest that you call now as our availability is starting to become limited. It’s one last chance to make unforgettable summer memories and I can think of no place better to do this than here at Deep Creek Lake. Imagine you and your family spending the weekend boating and water tubing on the water. Rent a jet ski for an early morning romp around the McHenry cove or maybe a relaxing kayak trip is just what you need. FJetSkior the outdoor adventurers, hiking and mountain biking are great options especially if you head to one of the many state parks in the area. Swallow Falls State Park showcases the largest free fall standing waterfall in the state of Maryland and is absolutely breathtaking to see. Wisp Resort offers a bevy of fun activities whether you choose to zip line down the mountain, ride the mountain coaster, play a friendly game of disc golf, and so much more. Only 3 ½ hours from the Washington D.C. / Baltimore area and 2 ½ from Pittsburgh, it’s a relatively short drive. Give us a call today (1-866-351-1119 or go online ) and let us help you find the perfect vacation home for your next Deep Creek stay. Lakefront homes are going fast so make sure you call today! We can’t wait to see you at the lake!

A Fair Deal!

Ferris Wheel!

Spoiled is essentially the best way to describe those that are visiting Deep Creek today and this weekend as the weather is near perfect with bright blue skies and lots of sunshine. I’m pretty sure that people think that I must be exaggerating this but it’s true. I think that since Mother Nature gives us such a long winter season, generally, that in order to balance it out, there must be postcard picture perfect ones in the warmer months! Tomorrow starts the 59thannual Garrett County Agricultural Fair held here at the fairgrounds in McHenry. If you are lucky enough to be visiting us this week then I highly suggest you put this on your list of things to do! If you have ever had the opportunity to visit an old fashioned agricultural fair then you know how much fun it can be for the whole family! Starting off with rides for the wee ones, there is usually a little toddler size roller coaster, Ferris wheel, spinning tee-cups, speed cars, and more! As they grow out of those, they move up to some of the larger rides such as the Scrambler,  a ride known for squishing those that are unlucky enough to pick the wrong side to ride on as it whips you around in a frenzy. The Swings, which swoop you out and about, overlooking the crowd below you!

Finally, you have graduated to the Big rides where you may meet The Zipper, a crazy looking contraption known for hurling you through the air at high rates of speed while turning you in a hundred circles until you feel completely nauseous! The Perks and sense of adventure of Fair Rides! Not for you? Then the food is as good of a reason to go as any! Fresh cut and made Rotary French Fries are a must if visiting our fair. With ketchup or vinegar, they absolutely delicious and well worth the calories! Candy apples, hamburgers, pizza, cotton candy, the list is long and worth trying one of each! Funnel Cakes! I almost forgot about the awesome Funnel Cake, varies in size and flavor, and sinfully good! Entertainment? Well, I always like to lose my money by trying to win some ridiculously large and often distorted stuffed animal by throwing a basketball in a teacup or squirting a water gun blaster into the mouth of an alligator.

Gorgeous Sunflower Field in McHenry!

Don’t forget The Derby! Highly popular, cars and drivers compete by smashing into each other until only one last car remains running. It seems rather silly but is actually quite exciting and a fun event to attend. There is also a great variety of entertainment, usually a musical act or a singing group that performs on a main stage. Don’t forget the barns full of livestock! Cattle, pigs, chickens, bunnies and then several barns full of people entries for their crafts, pictures, flowers, and much more! Take a day or evening and bring the family to the fair! Ride lots of rides, eat food that is not good for you (but worth every bite!) play silly games and just enjoy the atmosphere! It starts tomorrow August 1st and goes until the following Saturday so you have plenty of days to check it out.
Still haven’t made your plans to visit Deep Creek Lake this summer? I really don’t know what you are waiting for? Almost all homes are now offering partial week stays which is ideal for those that can’t get a full week off of work but still want to take a relaxing vacation, if at least for several days! For those that are trying to stay within a budget, townhomes and lake access homes generally rent for less but you may still have the lake just a short stroll or drive away. Give us a call here at Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales (1-866-351-1119 or go online and let us help you plan your Deep Creek getaway.
