Planning a Deep Creek Lake summer vacation? Our list of 15 Things to do at Deep Creek Lake with Kids includes destinations you don’t want to miss.
The Deep Creek Lake area is unique in that there are more than 90,000 acres of public land that make up 7 state forests and parks. That means there are virtually limitless options for keeping your crew entertained and making memories with your favorite people.
Watch a family movie on a big outdoor screen at the Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales office. Every Tuesday (except Aug.2) during the summer, bring chairs or a blanket and catch a FREE family movie under the stars. Click here to see the movie line-up.
Paddleboarding at Deep Creek Lake State Park is a fun activity for everyone. You can rent a paddleboard for as little as $14 for half an hour or $24 for an hour from Wisp’s Beach Hut. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon at the sandy beach and swimming area. Kayak and canoe rentals are available as too.
Hiking to a waterfall (or 3!). At Swallow Falls State Park you can hike trails leading to three different waterfalls. Make it a fun family adventure to see them all – Swallow Falls, Muddy Creek Falls, and Tolliver Falls. If there are smaller kids in your group or family members with limited mobility, a handicap accessible ramp leads to a platform that offers beautiful views.
Go Fishing. Fishing opportunities are around every corner. Get your Maryland fishing license and cast your line from the dock at your Deep Creek Lake vacation rental or head to a state park: New Germany, Deep Creek Lake, and Herrington Manor. If you need tips on the best bait or secret spots, stop by Bill’s Outdoor Center on Rt. 219.
