Winter Fest = Winter Fun

If you were lucky enough last week to visit our annual WinterFest, then surely you were as amazed as I was with all of the fun festivites. Despite the gushing wind, a good time was had by all. Unique ice sculptures lined the streets, each representing a local vendor. The time and effort that is put into each of these unique creations is incredible but the result is positively amazing to see! The kiddies always get a big kick out of the ice bowling and posing in the enormous Ice Throne. Add in an old fashioned bonfire and hot chocolate and you know you can’t go wrong. Ray from Pleasant Valley Dream Rides once again joined in and provided horse drawn sleigh rides around Oakland. For a moment there, I let my imagination roam free, and I pictured myself as Laura Ingalls Wilder riding along the roads of Walnut Grove. Sigh. There is something special about watching the large Clydesdale Horse prance around that really brings a feeling of good old fashioned lore. (For more information on Ray and Pleasant Valley Dream Rides, check out his website, or catch a glimpse of Chad’s creative spin on the sleigh rides on Taylor-Made’s facebook page). If you didn’t make it this year, mark your calendar for next year, it’s a guaranteed afternoon of family fun!
