Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County, in general, offer a bevy of activities throughout the year. However, sometimes its just nice to step outside the box and check out some new places in the surrounding areas. A year or so ago, the hubby, kids, and I were taking a drive to Uniontown, PA (located approximately 50 minutes west from McHenry) when we spotted Wildside. Housed in the same development as Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, this huge building was originally constructed to be a Cabelas type store (camouflage, guns, sporting stuff, etc. all decked out in a very woodsy type of theme). Unfortunately that plan didn’t pan out so they chose to turn it into arcade/ game emporium and I must say it is awesome! It houses everything needed for a fun packed family night out! Besides having over 65+ arcade games, they also have a bowling alley, pool tables, dart boards, sports bar, and climbing wall. Playing on the Wildside theme, they kept most of the stuffed animals, the exotic bird habitat, a large aquarium, and a creepy snake display (my boy’s favorites). We always go hungry so we can pig out on their pizza and wings ( some of the best we have had!!) So, here it is folks, my latest recommendation for something new to try if you are in the area. From McHenry, it’s a smooth, easy 35 minutes away. It’s a terrific place to take the kids, chill out, play some fun games, eat delicious (I said delicious, not nutritious!) food, and just have a great time with your family and friends! Until next week, when we get to dress silly and beg for candy, see you at the lake!
