Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations celebrated Thanksgiving a day early with a company feast held at our main office. Rita provided the main course with a big old 22 lb. turkey. Other goodies were mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, fresh homemade rolls, and tons more. Oh, desserts! Did I mention that there were lots and lots of yummy deserts! My coworkers can really cook! I am beginning to think that after this weekend, that membership to Deep Creek Fitness that I mentioned previously is now inevitable. Well worth it though, I must say!
This Monday you will most definitely want to check out our website for our Cyber Monday Sale! Lots of great savings will be going on all day. If you are looking for a fun last minute getaway in November, we are not only offering a lot of last minute discounts but are waiving the 6% county tax as well. Call to speak to one of our Reservationists on how to take advantage of this deal (1-866-351-1119) or look us up online @ www.deepcreekvacations.com. Mark your calendars and check it out!
Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations’ owners and employees would like to take this opportunity to wish all of renters, guests, homeowners, and neighboring businesses a very heartfelt Happy Thanksgiving! We are so grateful for the chance to work with you. Enjoy your time with family and friends, eat lots of turkey with all of the trimmings, and give thanks. Have a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!
I will be the first to admit that I am not fond of exercise. Raising 2 young boys that often force me into lively Dance Party marathons, trampoline contortionist acts, corn~ hole tournaments, and basically all things that leave me winded, makes me feel that I get plenty of movement. However, when it was announced that Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations was going to be working with Deep Creek Fitness and they invited us to come check them out, I was intrigued. I decided to stop in the other day to scope out the place. When I walked in, I was immediately warmly welcomed by the girls behind the counter. Nina, one of the personal trainers and manager, introduced herself to me and then began to show me around and tell me about some of the services they offer. She explained that the staff is always willing to work with the guests, either showing them how to properly use the equipment or even devising the best workout plan that suits the individual. Guests can also choose to seek the help of a personal trainer for an additional fee. This is where Nina would come in. She explained that she can help devise not only a workout plan but help develop a nutritional guideline as well. They offer lots of group classes as well such as spinning, zumba, yoga, and more. They will soon be offering a new class called BodyPump, which is a 60 minute workout that uses a platform, a bar and a selection of weights. She then showed me the group workout room where individual can also use for biking, stretching, or whatever they may want to work on at that time. Hmmm, so my interest is now piqued. As a group, I believe that many of our coworkers are going to start going together in the near future. This will also give all of us a more personal experience of the facility. Taylor-Made is hoping to soon convince more of our homeowners to purchase the 3 month membership for our renters to use when they stay in the home. We understand that many people have a certain routine and even though they are on vacation, they want to continue with their daily fitness regime. This would give them a chance to do that in a state of the art gym. So, many thanks to Nina for kindly showing me around. I think there is an excellent chance you may see me in the near future.
Be sure to check out Deep Creek Fitness on their website for more information (www.deepcreekvacations.com)

Life in the mountains continues to return to normal following the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Again, we must say how very thankful we are to all of the workers, both local and those that came from out of state to help restore power, remove downed trees & power lines, and cleared roadways. You are true heroes and we appreciate all of your time and effort!
It is once again time to introduce you to one of our featured employees. This week we celebrate Lisa Yommer, our Assistant Customer Service Manager. Lisa was one of Taylor-MadeDeep Creek Vacations’ first employees, having started with the company in December 2008. Having worked in customer service previously, Lisa brought with her 5 years of experience to the Reservations Department. Once in Reservations, Lisa began to implement many important ideas into the department from developing a training program, working closely with all departments to make sure our homes are in top notch condition for our guests, resolving customer issues, and forming a fun incentive program for employees. We are very lucky to have her as part of our team and appreciate all of her hard work and dedication. On a more personal note, Lisa is a Garrett County native that currently resides in Oakland. Many of her evenings are spent at her second job where she is a manager @ Garrett 8 Cinemas! (You would think she would have some pull on getting us some free movie tickets but so far, no dice. Trust me, several of us have tried!) She is an avid Steeler Fan, often participating in heated discussions with Company owner, Chad, who is a tried and true Ravens fan. (All in good fun but definitely makes for some good teasing around the office!) She has a very social life, and enjoys shopping and dining out with her large group of friends. For company get-togethers, we can always count on Lisa to show up with smile and ready to have a good time (Sometimes, we can even talk her into bringing her extremely scrumptious and yummy Mexican Taco Dip!!) So, Hip Hip Hooray! for Lisa! You are a wonderful employee and a great friend to us all!
There is still time left for those that want to visit the area in Thanksgiving. We are running some fantastic specials (sorry not retro-active) where you can now book 3 nights for the price of 2! If you choose to book and stay in the month of November, you can now also take advantage of our tourism boost when we waive the 6% accommodation tax on all of our homes. Don’t forget that this is also our annual Festival of Trees event. Held at the Garrett County Fairgrounds, this is your chance to wander through a true winter wonderland of decorative trees, wreaths, and other festive decorations. A wonderful family festivity, bring the kids and let them enjoy breakfast and pictures with Santa Claus! While many children and parents were planning their Halloween costumes and stocking up on candy to dispense for Trick or Treating, Garrett Countians were digging out toboggans, mittens, and various winter gear. Candy was replaced instead with ice melt and snow shovels. Hurricane Sandy swept up the East coast earlier this week and blazed quite a trail through our majestic mountains. Over 3 feet of snow fell on the region leaving many with downed trees, electric lines, and without power. Crews from various states have swept in to help and although the clean-up is going to take a while, we feel optimistic that life will return to normal before we know it. A great big huge thank you to the many, many road crews, power workers, and anyone, in general that came and offered their services. Your long hours and tireless effort is greatly appreciated.
On a positive note, the snow enthusiasts are ecstatic over the thought of Wisp Resort opening soon and for the ski season to officially start. We haven’t officially gotten any updates on when they expect the opening day to be but we will definitely keep you posted. Also, remember that to call us at Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations (1-866-351-1119 or online www.deepcreekvacations.com) to begin planning your ski getaway. We are once again working with Wisp Resort to offer our guests our “Ski Free/ Stay Free” package. It’s an awesome deal where you can stay and ski 3 nights for the price of 2! We still have some homes available for the Thanksgiving holiday so gather the family and join us in the mountains for a little R & R! If you are in the area over Thanksgiving, I always like to remind our guests about the Festival of Trees, held at the exhibition hall at the Garrett County Fairgrounds, on November 23rdand 24th. Guests can stroll through designer decorated trees, wreaths, centerpieces, and more. Local artisans are on-site for your shopping pleasure. The kids will enjoy having breakfast with Santa, visiting Frosty’s Funland, or get some yummy baked goods from Santa’s Bakery. Adults will also enjoy the Silent Auction that is held on Saturday. It’s definitely a fun family event that is very much worth checking out. http://www.fotgc.com/ Pack up your winter wear, grab a sled, and come enjoy the snow with us. We can’t wait to see you at the lake!
