Hard to believe we are already closing out the month of October. Next stage: Snow. At least more than likely we will start to see little flakes here and there. The temperatures are starting to dip at night which means it’s “let’s be lazy & lounge around the fireplace” time. Many of our vacation rental homes have either a wood fireplace or a gas fireplace, as it is a popular amenity that is often requested when a guest is trying to find the perfect home. If you have questions regarding what your home has, please feel free to call in and speak to your Reservationist or go online and check under the Amenities Section. (www.deepcreekvacations.com or 1-866-351-1119).
The Taylor-Made Team recently returned from the Annual VRMA (Vacation Rental Managers Association) conference held in New Orleans this week. It’s always an incredible informative and fun conference which gives us the chance to network and share ideas with others in our industry. It’s also a huge eye-opener on how incredibly large and expansive the Vacation Rental Industry really is! The chance to take classes, boot camps, round tables and presentations by the best in the business is always exciting! The fact that this year is the 30th Anniversary of VRMA definitely added to the excitement.
Our Taylor-Made Family also got in the Halloween spirit today by dressing up and having a pizza party. Major props are going out to our entire Owner Representative staff who embraced the fun and dressed as Cat in the Hat and Thing #1 through Thing #7! A huge thank you to the Taylor-Made bosses for once again treating us to lunch. (If you happen to still be in the area and are hungry, stop by! Someone left it up to me and I clearly over-ordered (normally those maintenance/ hot tub techs/ and lawn care crew devour it all!) Speaking of which, we would like to wish everyone a festive and fun Halloween and certainly hope that you get nothing but treats & no tricks. Don’t forget to change your clocks back an hour this Sunday as well (Spring Ahead; Fall Back!). Give us a call and let us help you plan your next Deep Creek adventure. We can’t wait to see you at the lake!
The month of October is sailing by and although the days have been gorgeous and sunny, the colder temperatures in the evening and morning are definite signs that ski season will be here before you know it! Please don’t be mistaken and think that it’s too soon to book your winter vacation. Holidays in particular tend to book up very quickly so it’s always best to call a few months in advance to secure that reservation. Parents should try to take advantage of any longer weekends that the kids may have off (those Teacher Planning days are awesome!) to come up for the weekend to ski or snow tube! Only 3 ½ hours from Washington D.C. and the surrounding areas and even less for those over near Pittsburgh, it’s a fairly easy drive. Think about how grateful the family would be to know that this winter they were going to take a weekend to tackle the ski slopes at Maryland’s only ski resort! (And think how awesome you look Mom and Dad for planning the whole thing). Not sure if skiing is your thing? There are so many more fun activities to do! Cross country skiing is an easy sport to learn, can be invigorating and relaxing at the same time, and it’s a great workout as well! Snow-shoeing is also highly recommended and trust me on this, if I (Super Klutz!) can figure this out and love it, then anyone can. Crede Calhoun from All Earth Eco Tours (www.allearthecotours.com) does some amazing tours at Swallow Falls State Park. If you’re familiar with Swallow Falls, then you know how beautiful it is there, however, one of the most unique aspects about Crede’s tours is that he chooses to take you to the areas of the park that we rarely venture to see. Once you get used to the show shoes, it’s easy to just plow along while taking in the dazzling winter wonderland before you! Again, highly recommend!
Also depending on what kind of winter getaway you are planning, we have multiple options for you to choose from. Are you looking for the convenience of a ski in/ ski out home? Just want everyone to come and go on the slopes at their leisure and would rather not worry about driving? We have some wonderful homes up in the Kendall Camp community where the ski lift is literally right out your back door. We also have several townhomes located in Deep Creek Villages that offer an easy stroll across the road to Wisp’s ticket window. Not really planning on skiing to much but love the thought of being in a mountain chalet with exquisite mountain views? We have those too! So, there it’s been thrown out there, it’s time to start planning your winter escape! Don’t let the winter blues attack this year! Call us here at Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations @ 1-866-351-1119 & Sales (or online www.deepcreekvacations.com) and let us help you start planning your winter trip! We can’t wait to see you at the lake!
Guests have been pouring into Deep Creek this weekend to join us for the Autumn Glory Festival that runs from now through Sunday! Parades, craft and antique shows, lots of entertainment; such a fun weekend to be here! The leaves are starting to peak so now is the perfect time to come and enjoy our fall foliage. Just a reminder that we are now offering 3 nights for the price of 2 on all new reservations from now until November 18th. A great time to get away for a relaxing weekend while taking advantage of some awesome promotions. Give us a call at Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales (or go online www.deepcreekvacations.com) and let us help you plan your Autumn getaway!
Speaking of more festivals, while October is kind enough to give us Autumn Glory, November brings us the Festival of Trees, which is held over the Thanksgiving holiday! Held here in McHenry at the fairgrounds, the Festival of Trees is held on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th beginning at 9 am until 6 pm. Offering a variety of family fun activities, guests get the chance to stroll through a winter wonderland of decorated trees, wreaths, centerpieces, art work and more. Bring the kids first thing in the morning for Breakfast with Santa and then head over to Frosty’s Funland where they can send a letter to Santa, visit the bakery or make a craft. Live entertainment is held on the stage where various dance groups will be there to perform. Definitely a great way to get into the Christmas spirit and Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to visit. Schools are out and families are already gathering so why not create new special memories by planning to bring your clan to Deep Creek Lake. With what has been known as unpredictable mountain weather, you may be arriving to a blanket of snowy goodness or to warmer weather, just right for hiking through our many state forests. Give us a call today so we can begin planning your new Thanksgiving tradition. We can’t wait to see you at the lake!
