Dog friendly Deep Creek Lake activities and restaurants make our area a favorite destination for travelers with pets. It’s not a true family vacation unless you can bring your four-legged friend with you!
This list could be a lot longer, but here are a few of the highlights that you and your pooch don’t want to miss:
Explore the Lake in a Kayak
Paddling around the lake on quiet summer mornings is even more fun when your dog can join you! Rent a double kayak from Wisp Resort or High Mountain Sports, and they’ll deliver it right to your Deep Creek Lake vacation rental home.
Sunsets, Flatbreads, & Microbrews at Mountain State Brewing Company
Kick-back by the fire pit on the patio and watch one of the famous Mountain Maryland sunsets with your best friend by your side.
Swim at Deep Creek Lake State Park
Fido can cool off with a swim from the shoreline anywhere except for the sandy beach or docks.
Enjoy Lake Views & Tunes at the Honi-Honi Bar
A local favorite, you can’t beat the lake view the Honi-Honi next to Uno Chicago Grill. Dogs are welcome on the lawn, and you can enjoy live entertainment on the weekends.
Take a hike!
During the summer, Swallow Falls State Park has a hiking trail that’s available to dogs and their human friends outside of the day-use area. Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, pets can access all of the trails in this popular park.
Right next door to Swallow Falls, is Herrington Manor State Park. During peak season, pets are not permitted in the day use area, but there is still lots of terrain and trails to explore.
The HART for Animals facility is close to the lake and offers veterinary care along with grooming and boarding services should you need this during your stay. Plus, there is a fenced dog park right next door!
There’s so much more to see and experience with your dog in the Deep Creek Lake area! Other dog friendly restaurants with outdoor seating include: Traders Coffee House, Archie’s Barbeque, Honi-Honi Bar, Canoe on the Run, The Greene Turtle, Black Bear Tavern, and Dutch’s at Silver Tree.
Reserve a dog friendly home, and treat your pup to a vacation!
