Whether you are having a large get-together or something more intimate, we have a few tips to help you plan your Thanksgiving Deep Creek Lake escape:
–Plan early. This is especially true if you are bringing a group with ten or more people. We have a wide variety of Deep Creek Lake vacation rentals, but the early bird gets the exact location, bed sizes and amenities that they prefer.
–Take the stress out of preparing a big meal. Arrowhead Market prepares homemade holiday dinners with all of the traditional Thanksgiving dishes. Be sure to give them a call and place your order in advance.
Dutch’s at Silver Tree is offering a Thanksgiving buffet from 11AM-7:30PM. Reservations are recommended.
Closer to November, many other local restaurants will announce their holiday menus.
–Treat yourself with some Thankgiving sweets. Trader’s Coffee House has a lot more than just java. From pies to rolls, you can order up all things pumpkin plus a lot more!
–Shop local for the December holiday. Visit the Festival of Trees November 24 or 25 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds to have breakfast with Santa or to shop for unique items from local and regional artisans. Beautifully decorated trees will be auctioned off as the grand finale of this fun event.
Head to downtown Oakland to browse the area’s best antique stores.
I also suggest taking a short drive to Grantsville’s “Little Crossings” area where you can shop at Grant’s Mercantile and grab a snack at Cornucopia Cafe. Plus, you can check out Casselman River Bridge State Park.
–Take time to relax. A holiday getaway is all about making memories…quiet moments by the fire, lots of laughs at the dinner table, and sharing special experiences that only happen at Deep Creek Lake. There is something magical about time spent in our mountain paradise, so “unplug” from reality for a bit and reconnect with your favorite people.
Find your Thanksgiving vacation home now and look forward to making many happy memories.
We wish you all the best this holiday season!
