It is easy to catch the spirit of the season when you experience fun activities with friends and family. The best way to start is to choose your perfect mountain home – maybe one with a cozy fireplace or bubbling outdoor hot tub – and then plan your trip around one of these favorite Deep Creek Lake holiday events.
FESTIVAL OF TREES GARRETT COUNTY
November 23-24 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds, 10AM-6PM
Benefitting the Dove Center, there are lots of family activities to enjoy. Breakfast with Santa, crafts, face painting, and more will keep the kids entertained. Plus, you can shop for holiday gifts from local artisans and vendors. Beautifully decorated trees are found throughout the exhibit hall, and they are auctioned off at 6PM on Saturday as the grand finale. MORE INFO
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING
November 24 at Honi-Honi Bar, 7PM
Fun for the entire family, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Honi Honi Bar also features Christmas Carolers, FREE Hot Chocolate, Kids and Pet Photos with Santa Claus and live band entertainment from 8-11pm. MORE INFO
LITTLE CROSSINGS HOLIDAY MARKET
Friday, November 23rd & Saturday, November 24th, Saturday, December 1st, Friday, December 7th – Sunday, December 9th, Saturday, December 15th at Grant’s Mercantile, 10AM-4PM
Local vendors & artists will be set up at the Little Crossings Suites. When you are finished there, stroll over to Grant’s Mercantile to browse housewares, jewelry, and many other fun items. If you need to refuel after shopping, grab a bite at the Cornucopia Cafe (right next door). MORE INFO
CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE
December 7-8 at the Spruce Forest Artisan Village, 4-8PM Fri., Noon to 8PM Sat.
In its 33rd year, this event is a local favorite. Candle luminaries light the village that is filled with fire-warmed artisan studios and historic museums. Get to know the artists and buy unique holiday gifts. There are activities for kids as well as choral programs. MORE INFO
A GREAT SMALL TOWN CHRISTMAS
Downtown Oakland December 7-8 & 15
Experience the small town charm of Oakland! The event centers around the historic town center. There are fun festivities every weekend that include photos with Santa, free soup from local non-profits, great deals at local shops, a tree lighting ceremony and much more!
The B&O Railroad Museum also hosts the “Oakland Express”. Kids (ages 4-8) can meet Santa, snack on cookies, and make crafts. They will receive a special treat bag too! Reservations are required and can be made by calling Michelle at 301-334-2691. MORE INFO
The Caroling Elvis’ Toy Drive Tour – Deep Creek Lake December 8 – Participants will be dressed up as Elvis and Priscilla Presley for the party of the year! They will meet at Wisp Resort’s Wisper’s Bar at 6pm to get the night started. They’ll visit 8 different venues, donating to Toys for Tots and “attempting” to sing them a carol or two. LOL! 2nd Annual Pictures with Santa and Firetrucks Deep Creek Fire Company
December 22, 8PM-11PM Ho ho ho!!! Join the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company for pictures with Santa Claus and Firetrucks. There will be snacks, refreshments, cookie decorating, Christmas games and the jolly man himself making a special appearance. There is no cost for the event!
Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at the Honi-Honi

Storytime with Santa at Taylor-Made
Santa makes his annual visit to the Taylor-Made office to read a story and take photos before heading out to deliver toys.
