Deep Creek Lake New Year’s getaways are a favorite way to celebrate with family and friends. There are lots of fun activities, festive events, and the mountain scenery makes your trip all the more memorable. It is a truly special way to usher in the New Year.
Our quick guide includes reservation tips as well as Deep Creek Lake New Year’s events. I’ll keep it updated as area happenings are announced, so be sure to check back often.
–Reserve your home early! I can’t stress that enough. Our homes typically sell out well in advance of the holiday. If you wait until December 1 to make plans, availability will very limited.
-If you are hosting a gathering at one of our homes, take the stress out of the festivities by having it catered or by picking up takeout. Visit our concierge page to see Deep Creek restaurants.
–MoonShadow is having a NYE Costume party with Joe Keyes and the Late Bloomer Band with special guests Fur the Birds. 21+ $10 cover. $5 cover if you wear a costume. Drink specials and food!
–Pinelodge Steakhouse is taking reservations for NYE. They are offering an incredible special menu too.
–Sipside Lounge is hosting a New Years Eve celebration with a “Roaring 20’s” theme. The Terah Crawford Band plays from 7 until 10, then karaoke and a DJ. Doors open at 4PM and last call is 12:30AM.
-Benefitting HART for Animals, the online Fur Ball 2020 Casino is Jan 1 – Jan 10. It is an online auction where you can bid on more than 40 awesome items. This fundraising event help them to further our mission of improving the condition of animals in Western Maryland.
-Dance the night away at the Honi-Honi Bar with entertainment by Surrender Dorothy. Music starts at 8PM.
-Head to Black Bear Tavern for a masquerade ball. There will be drinks, dancing & fun with giveaways, live music & MORE! Wear a mask for free entry. Formal attire is encouraged but wear what you’re comfortable in! DJ THORO is in the club at 10PM and there will be an early band as well. Champagne toast at midnight, best mask contest, & MORE!
NEW YEAR’S DAY
–Pro tip: I suggest getting some fresh ground coffee and muffins from Trader’s Coffee House to start the new year off on the right foot.
-Spend January 1st exploring our beautiful state parks with the annual First Day Hike. Take a self-guided excursion at any Garrett County state parks. At noon, there is a guided hike at Deep Creek Lake State Park. Meet at the Beckman’s Trailhead. Go through the main entrance, and stay right until you reach the overflow parking lot. The trailhead is at the back of the lot. You will learn about Garrett County’s black bear population. Prepare for possible snow covered trails with proper footwear and layers. Should the mountain trails be too slick, they will stroll beside the beautiful lakeshore. Leashed pets are welcome!
Here’s to a very Happy New Year! I hope we see you at the lake in 2022!
P.S. Remember to always celebrate responsibly no matter where you are!
