Fair week is a popular time for Deep Creek Lake vacations. Our homes usually fill up early. There is something for every age and interest. From fun rides and great food to exciting events and adorable animals, families can experience the best of Garrett County. Check out our top 5 favorite things to see and do at the fair.
The Garrett County Fair also gives visitors a glimpse into Garrett County’s agricultural community. It is a key part of the area’s heritage. Many local children are involved in 4-H and enter animals that they raise. This is a family tradition that goes back decades.

The Garrett County Celtic Festival is June 4, 2022! This longtime favorite promises fun for the entire family.
The festival is Saturday, June 4th from 9:30AM until 6PM. Friendsville Community Park will once again be the venue – rain or shine! Located along the Youghiogheny River, it is just a short drive from the Deep Creek Lake area. A fishing access is located on the far side of the parking circle near the baseball diamond. The river is shallow here, and it’s a great spot to cool if it is hot!
Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate. Click here to get your ticket online. The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for ages 13-18, and free for ages 12 and under.
Bring your chairs or blankets to relax and enjoy the live entertainment, dancing, and traditional Highland games. Leashed dogs are welcome too. Ruth Enlow Library will provide activities for kids to do with their families, and food vendors will be on hand too. Check out the complete schedule of events.
If you haven’t already, book a getaway for the festival weekend! The Garrett County Celtic Festival is a fun, affordable event for the entire family.
There are two small town holiday celebrations the first full weekend in December. They offer tons of fun for the entire family. Each takes place Friday and Saturday, so that gives you plenty of time to experience both! They are a short 15 minute drive from the Deep Creek Lake area too.
The Town of Oakland hosts A Great Small Town Christmas, December 6th and 7th, 2019. You can enjoy numerous free and family-friendly activities in historic downtown area. It is the perfect opportunity to shop for unique gifts too.
The kick-off is a tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 6th. It is held at the community Christmas tree (outside B&O Museum) at 6pm. Come out and join us for sleigh rides, carols, store specials, and a special treat from Santa!
On Saturday, December 7th warm-up with Soup N’ Santa! Local non-profit organizations will hand out free soup (donations are encouraged but not required). Visit with Santa at Smoke N Mirrors Photography, from 11am-2pm. Free sleigh rides are happening from 11am-2pm along with live music and local shopping.
Deep Creek Lake September events offer a reason to visit every weekend! This is a quieter time of year when you feel like you have the lake all to yourself. With the busy summer season behind us, the area takes on a leisurely pace that is ideal for relaxation with friends and family.

Deep Creek Lake Art, Wine & Beer Festival
September 7, Noon-6PM, Garrett County Fairgrounds
With more than 200 wineries, lots of craft brews and area artists on-hand, this is a favorite late summer event. It supports both HART for Animals and the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival. Plus, there is great food, live music and activities for the kids. Plan a stay with Taylor-Made, and you can get discounted tickets too!

HART for Animals is an important part of the Deep Creek Lake community. They use 85% of all revenues to support charitable programs, including adoptions, spay/neuters, rescue and transports and sheltering. Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales has supported their work for years through donations, volunteering and event sponsorship. HART for Animals is tireless in their endeavor to improve the condition of animals in Western Maryland.
HART is more than adoption center. They are also home to Bredel Veterinary Clinic, Bed ‘N Bark Inn pet hotel and Muttworks grooming.
In 2017, we sponsored the very first Fast & Furriest 5K Run/1K walk in conjunction with HART for Animals. It was a big success, and we are continuing the sponsorship. On Saturday, June 29, 2019, you can bring your pup join us in supporting HART.

Every spring, the Taylor-Made team looks forward to HART’s Guest Bartender Challenge. Local companies “compete” to raise the most money. Each one hosts a night where they bartend at an establishment.
