The Bear Necessity was an absolutely perfect cabin for a getaway with a bunch of friends. The house was very clean and spacious. There are plenty of beds and bathrooms for at least 12 people. The kitchen was well-stocked, and we were able to cook all of our meals there. The hot tub appeared to be brand new and worked out great for our group. The wrap-around porch was great for drinking morning coffee and enjoying the beautiful view. The wood and bear décor throughout the house made us fall even more in love with Bear Necessity! The rental agency responded very quickly with the few needs that we had. I HIGHLY recommended this wonderful house to groups of all kinds!

Our extended family got together for a belated Thanksgiving Celebration. We had a fantastic time! First of all, the home was spacious. Everyone appreciated having their own bathrooms 4 bedroom, 4 full bathrooms and 1/2 bath off the main hall. 7 adults and 2 dogs had room to spread out. We enjoyed playing ping pong, watching a special movie and cooking our Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. The kitchen had every utensil that we needed. The dining area was spacious and comfortable. The deck provided a sunny spot for our morning coffee! The younger adults enjoyed the hot tub. This is a lovely location for a family gathering! The staff at Taylor Made were very helpful, answering any questions we had during the reservation and pre-arrival planning!

We picked the perfect spot to celebrate a weekend with family to create memories and honor my brothers 50th Birthday . The place was wonderful and dealing with Taylor Made was easy and worry free . The place we stayed had so many beautiful little wood carved pieces throughout and it was one of the best places we stayed in deep creek lake . My brother had passed away months before and was a master carpenter . He would have appreciated the craftsmanship and wood inspired home that bear necessities provided . ?? #familymemories #deepcreek

Fantastic get-away for all our family. The log cabin/house was exacly as described in the website. All amenities worked great. Hot tub was wonderful as our first day was cold and rainy and we didn't care a bit. Just lit a fire in the wood stove and read and played games. First time for us renting a home and the owners clearly thought through everything one would need to enjoy their stay.

So we went as a group of late twenties and thirty somethings, no kids, and two dogs, looking for more of a getaway "staycation" vacation. The house was more than what we expected from the pictures. It was amazing to have a bathroom in each bedroom since it was a group of friends, and not families. Plenty of space in the common areas to all be together, and also enough room for all of us to have alone time and not be on top of each other. Loved the main floor deck for morning coffee and able to have the dogs with us in an enclosed space (also a plus the house came with 1 dog crate for when we ran out to the grocery store). The ping-pong table was a huge hit and had competitions throughout the week. We are planning on coming back to Deep Creek within the year and would definitely stay in Bear Necessity again!
The only downside was the driveway because it is such a steep grade. Very hard to walk up and even get out of the car.

It was beautiful weather and we rented two boats for the week. Wonderful! The house was beautiful and was well stocked with proper plates and cooking utensils.

The place had the cabin feel I love, very relaxing and quiet. Place was amazingly decorated and bottom floor was amazing and fun with pool table, pin pong table, gas fireplace and furniture setup with TV that was very comfortable and relaxing. Definitely enjoyed place and the Hot Tub was superb.

One of our Christmas gifts to our grown children is a Winter Get Away Weekend. This year we decided on Deep Creek as our destination. Booked Bear Necessity Rental hoping that it would meet all of our expectations. The rental was great. It was very clean, well-stocked, had a pool table and Ping-Pong table and games to play. And of course, a HOT TUB. Not sure what the weather would bring since Winter 2016-2017 has been very unpredictable. When we made the reservation, we thought that we might need "summer activities" to fill our time. But we were wrong!!! Started snowing that Thursday and the family enjoyed great skiing on Saturday. They also enjoyed sitting in the hot tub with the snow falling!!! The kids departed for home on Sunday evening for work commitments, but my husband and I, both retired, stayed until Monday morning. Much to our surprise, an additional 8" of snow fell that evening. What a beautiful sight!!! I was pleased that the rental agency had plowed the steep entrance to the rental one of the days that we were there. Worried about getting off the hill on Monday, but we did not have any trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend - loved being with the family sharing time and just relaxing!! The amenities of the rental made it easy to relax and have fun!!!

It was a wonderful experience. The home was absolutely lovely and well stocked and I loved the location. The home was true to the pictures and 3D tour and it was very clean! There were all kinds of amenities like soaps, shampoo, detergent, movies and books. I liked the location for the privacy and quiet. I was very happy with this home and my overall experience. Amanda was awesome in helping me choose and book my vacation, housekeeping did a great job and everyone at Taylor Made was courteous and helpful. I appreciate the owners sharing their beautiful home with us. Awesome!

This home was a beautiful retreat and we enjoyed staying there - all the amenities you would want. Just want to mention that the large master suite mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. That was our only complaint.

Bear Necessity was a peaceful, clean, wonderful place to spend the weekend with my family. It was the perfect size and had all the amenities we needed. The only thing missing, that would have been nice would be a fire pit.

Amazing! It met all of our expectations. It was spacious, the kitchen was well supplied, and it had lots of things to do such as ping pong, pool table, hot tub, and lots of board games. couple of suggestions: the trees along the main walkway to the entry door needed to be trimmed and some of the beds were not comfortable.

Beautiful house, loved staying there! The hike to the community dock was somewhat inconvenient, but didn't ruin our trip. If you plan on walking to the docks and swimming a lot, or just want convenient lake access, this isn't the best choice though.

Our first time to the area and everything was wonderful. When you pick a place after viewing on the internet you don't always get what you think but that was not true for Bear Necessity. It far exceeded our expectations and was perfect for the 8 of us. The location was great because we prefer away from all the activities and quieter area. We appreciated all the recommendations we received and the Taylor Made staff were very friendly. We did a boat rental, went to Lavender Farm, used the beach and discovery center at the Deep Creek Park, hiked the swallow falls park, shopped, smileys and attended the Friendsville Fiddle and Banjo Contest. We did not eat at any local restaurants. We have already recommended the Deep Creek area to friends.

Our vacation was wonderful and the home was beyond wonderful! The kids were entertained and the adults relaxed. We found Swallow Falls which was amazing and kayaking on the lake was so much fun. The only complaint was the occasional mouse and ants found in the main floor bedroom. We can not wait until next summer to do it again!

I am A Registered Nurse in an ICU setting and I was looking for a restful week in a luxurious quiet setting with lots of tub time and I found what I was looking for. The stairs were a little severe, but I have bad knees.

awesome. need to have trash bags on site though. And instructions on the AC would be welcomed! Highway was a bit noisy, and it is difficult to get to the water, otherwise, love the locale.

The house was very nice, and clean. Enough room for the six of us. All of the amenities were put to use due to rainy weather during the week.
