Cross the River is a beautiful house right on the river. Sitting on the porch with the babbling river behind us was so peaceful and relaxing! Kitchen is more than well stocked. Close enough to everything but off the beaten path enough to be very peaceful. The "private driveway" signs are a little confusing but once you find the house you will be very pleased. Excellent vacation house!! We have been going to the Creek for 30 years and have never stayed in the same house twice. This house might be the exception!!
The house and property where clean. Something neat we found about the house is this toilet and sink tucked privately behind a wall in the basement. My family would definitely stay again!

Perfect spot on the river. Quite, love the view.
- William G. from Bel Air, MD, Posted: 07/11/2018
We were pleasantly surprised by the size of Cross the River. The view was fantastic and very quiet. All you can hear is the stream. Our place was very close to everything. Will definitely want to stay there again!!!

very enjoyable but too short. i also think the 10am checkout was too early. 11am would would be better considering you can not check in until 4pm.

This is the most relaxing place we have ever had at Deep Creek.

This cottage was perfect for a couple's winter retreat. Close to great hiking and skiing.
- Anonymous from Baltimore, MD, Posted: 12/20/2017
We greatly enjoyed our stay. All amenities you could reasonably ask for were on site. Less than 10 minute drive to Wisp, it has an open floor plan, large rear deck with hot tub, gas grill, fire pit, and backs up to nearby stream. Only thing we could ask for would be a little better quality couch in the living room. After a long day on the slopes, something a little more comfortable would have been a great touch.
- Gregory C. from Rochester, NY, Posted: 12/12/2017
Since our families were out of town, my husband and I decided to spend Thanksgiving on our own in the woods, and it was a great decision. Location is great---quiet by the creek with a beautiful view of the peak across the river. Even in the cold, the hot tub saw a lot of use. The kitchen was clean and well-stocked with cookware. Fork Run is close by for those of us who don't ski or kayak but enjoy hiking/running/climbing. Driving around the area is tricky, since you are on windy back roads, which is great for privacy but means you should try to arrive in daylight if possible. Also do not expect cell service---which was a plus for us, but maybe not for everyone. All in all an excellent experience and one we hope to make into a tradition!

Wonderful experience, soothing river flowing by. Would definitely stay here again.

We LOVED Across the River! A Quiet, Gorgeous hideaway...perfect for a small family get away. We spent time down at the River, fishing...then roasting marshmellows, playing games. For the Parents- Coffee on the Deck with the River sounds was the BEST! Everything was clean and orderly. We'll definitely be back!

The home was very clean and comfortable. Having extra blankets and towels was wonderful too! We loved the view of the river and the hot tub. We will definitely be returning!

This is a quiet out-of-the-beaten-path peaceful home where you can relax on the back deck and watch the water of the Yough river flow by.
- Anonymous from Mount Airy, MD, Posted: 06/06/2017
We had a wonderful stay at Cross the River! Beautiful views of the river and surrounding. The house had everything we needed and more. It was very relaxing and far enough away from the restaurants and shops, yet an easy drive.

Great little get away spot for us on our October anniversary. Updated appliances were nice. Cute little neighborhood away from the lake with plenty of privacy. Found that the blender did not work on our first night. We went to the rental offices and they replaced it with a brand new one. Short walk to the river. Caught smallmouth bass and trout every day. An eagle flew down the stream at least twice during our stay. Hot tub was great, of course. View of the river was amazing from the deck of the cabin. Enjoyed fresh donuts from Deep Creek Donuts. Fabulous beer selection at Mountain State Brewing Company in McHenry with wood fired pizza oven. Pine Lodge Steakhouse had the best creamy crab soup ever OMG. Super value for the price. Beds, bedding and bedrooms could use an upgrade.

My boyfriend and I wanted a weekend away and this property couldn't of been more perfect! It is a beautiful home with a great back porch overlooking the river. We enjoyed the fire pit outside and the hot tub during the chilly weather. The property wasn't far from the national parks so we were able to enjoy some hiking during our stay as well. We definitely plan on returning some time soon!

This was my first time coming to your location and i REALLY enjoyed myself. My guest had a fabulous time. Thank you.
- Fay S. from Phoenixville, PA, Posted: 09/04/2016
This place has it all ... privacy, views, hot tub, and so much more. Do you want to cook while away? This place has the best equipped kitchen of any place I've EVER stayed! Everything is fully modernized and updated. There is a walking path that runs along the river for those looking to exercise while away, but not wanting to find a gym. Cell reception is not the best, but the place is equipped with WiFi and a land line for any calls you need to make. A couple of things to keep in mind. There is no window treatment in second bedroom so sunlight may wake you. Also there are no screens on either the deck door or front door, so you're not able to have a nice cross breeze by having these doors open. Finally, the shower and shower head leave some things to be desired. There is no shower mat or anti slip additions to the floor of the tub and the tub is slippery. As you attempt to adjust the shower head, it can be challenging. However, all of these things are correctable and did NOT detract from our stay in the least. I highly recommend Cross the River to anyone looking for a lovely, deeply nestled retreat. And with the washer/dryer in the basement, I was able to do all laundry BEFORE I came home. What a bonus!!!
- Ronald P. from Columbia, MD, Posted: 08/17/2016
House was nice, kept up very well. Cable, wifi, HBO, kitchen, AC, grill, nice deck, outdoor fire pit and hot tub. Had breakfast and dinner on the deck. House isn't too far from the stores and restaurants, but far enough that there's really no one else around.

This bright, airy cottage was just what we were looking for. The interior is quaint with modern touches (nice appliances and televisions in the living room and bedrooms), and it was very clean when we arrived. A nice touch provided by Taylor Made: they leave a little kit of dish soap/a sponge/laundry soap and a roll of paper towels and you'll find salt, pepper, and garlic powder in the cabinets (bring other spices if you like to cook).Back deck is spacious and lawn well-cared for; there's a nice firepit, but you'll need to buy wood. The area was very quiet and most other houses seemed to be occupied by full-time residents (translation: no partiers, as we've encountered before when staying lakeside). We enjoyed listening to the river burble and walking down the hill to drop in a fishing line now and then. First time working with Taylor Made, and they were quick to respond to emailed questions, and reservations and checkin/checkout were a breeze. Look forward to staying here again.
- Amanda M. from Strabane, PA, Posted: 07/17/2016
We couldn't have asked for a better experience! This house had everything we needed and more. Plenty of space for our family of 4, and all the amenities were great! The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, cookware, everything we needed. There was even a little dish soap, sponge, Tide, paper towels, and rolls of TP. Loved the washer/dryer, dishwasher, and all the extra towels and linens. The house was cozy and comfortable, very homey. The kids loved the games in the cupboard under the TV. Let's talk about that deck...WOW! We enjoyed our morning coffee out there listening to the river, it was so peaceful. We had some bonfires while we were there, too. Such a beautiful property! We were off on our own, but only 10 minutes from everything. And it was very easy booking with Taylor Made. They called to check on us the first morning we were there, they were always accessible if we needed anything, and the house was perfectly clean when we arrived. Our hot tub was clean and fresh, and then cleaned halfway through the week without ever disturbing us. They left a little card on the hot tub letting us know it had been cleaned. We will not hesitate to book this beautiful home again as soon as we know our next travel dates. Loved it!
- Gilliam M. from Havre de Grace, MD, Posted: 07/16/2016
My husband and I needed a quiet getaway and this was the perfect place. The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable. The fishing in the river is fantastic. We would book this place again!
Peace, Quite, Perfect!
‘Cross the River is the PERFECT rental for a couple or a small family that needs to unwind, get away, and spend quality time together. The property location is ideal; 10-15min from Deep Creek Lake attractions, which allows you to have fun and then get away from it all. One of our favorite things during our stay was listening to the harmonies of the river and the wildlife come together. During our stay, the weather allowed us to turn off the central air and open the large windows to bring the sounds and smells in to rock us to sleep. The cottage is appointed well; comfortable furniture, plenty of kitchen amenities (including the most quiet dishwasher ever), blankets, towels, and extra pillows. During our stay it rained an entire day, which made us appreciate more the cable TV, DVD player, WiFi, and cabinet with games, movies, and books. Fishing in the river was fun and some stories made it home with us. The locals and neighbors were very friendly; they kept to themselves but always had a greeting and offered some tips on what the fish were biting on. The rental process through Taylor-Made was very easy and customer friendly. The concierge guide in the rental was filled with information about the area including directions to area attractions. The discount card inside the guide was awesome—free tube rental, yes please! This was our first time to the DCL area. We will definitely be back, and will more than likely stay here again!

Everything about this cottage is perfect if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, and refreshing get away. The home is 10-15 minutes from town, and for us this was ideal because it allowed us to be part of the activities around the Lake and get away from them at the end of the day.The first thing we noticed when we arrived was the hypnotic sounds and the intoxicating smells of nature. The weather was nice enough that we turned the central air off and opened the windows to let the sounds and smells in.The deck and backyard frames the view of the river perfectly; whether you are sitting by the camp fire, grilling dinner, relaxing in the hot tub, or sitting at the patio table. There are some neighbors, but they were friendly. The walk down to the river is a maintained steep set of stairs.Fishing was great; the friendly locals were quick to offer a warm greeting and what the fish were biting on.The cottage was maintained inside and out.We were impressed with the overall space inside the cottage as well as the natural light that pours into the living areas. The appliances are all new, and the dishwasher so quiet that you never knew when it was running. We had more than enough space to store the groceries we purchased, and the rental included kitchen ware to make food prep almost like you were at rained a full day while we vacationed, so the cable TV, DVD, and WiFi definitely were a plus.We found some games and movies, and truly enjoyed a rainy day while on vacation. The process of renting with Taylor-Made was EASY.The property address does not show up on a GPS, but the directions provided were clear to follow.T-M also provided a list (with directions) to points of interest as well as essentials, as well as a card that can be used at some businesses in the Deep Creek area for discounts. This rental is perfect for a couple in need of an escape or a small family that is looking for quality time together.

This home is so close to the ever flowing river that it provided a constant serene experience. Only minor issue was the lack of window treatments in the family room where the sleep sofa is located. Other than that, a great, cozy home in a wonderful location. Situated within distance of Wisp Resort, state parks, Deep Creek Lake, & Walmart Supercenter.

nice little place. my wife and I wanted a small cozy cabin it was a great fit.
- Donna R. from Centreville, MD, Posted: 02/04/2016
The property description was accurate regarding the location, layout, and amenities were on point. We really loved the place and the view. We went skiing all weekend long, did not eat out any restaurants. We had so much food stocked in the house in fear of being snowed in. The locals (one gentleman, think he was the owner of the property) kept the road cleared that the house was on. His children even shoveled the walk ways for us. Wonderful stay and will definitely be back in the spring for some kayaking.

Location, Location, Location....this home is wonderful. We enjoyed the open fire pit, the jacuzzi and being able to cook our own meals. Stayed here in November. Upon arrival, we could not believe we'd found this place. It was clean and the beds were made. There were plenty of towels for the bath and the kitchen was very well stocked. This is an excellent cottage for those who like to spend time outdoors. One item that should be mentioned is the master bedroom has memory foam on the bed. Some may like this. My husband and I are 60 something and our backs could not take it. Solution...seperate bedrooms. It was a great week and we really enjoyed this cottage and the location. Tons of hiking nearby and the sound of the river was remarkable. Mgmt company was excellent. Lost heat one morning. The owner stopped by and had it fixed within hours. Couldn't ask for better service.

We rent through your agency annually, and this is a property that we would most definitely return to. We felt like we were in a national geographic location. ...the bald eagles, osprey, hawks, deer, beaver, mink, deer....the fishing! !! It was unbelievable, I have recommended it to friends who are avid hunters and fishers, as well as an outdoorsy couple who may honeymoon in the deep creek area.Overall....we loved it. Only only recommendation is a community trash bin so that trash doesn't have to be stored in the house. 5

Had a great time. House was perfect. Nice blend of old and new. Great location right on the river. Was worried with the proximity of the river with an almost 3-year old, but everything was OK (there is very low trafficked small 1-lane private access road for the hydro plant in between the property and the river). Taylor Made was great to deal with!
- Angela W. from Severn, MD, Posted: 07/25/2015
We absolutely loved the house and the scenery! He residents are so kind and welcoming around us. We hope to be able to stay in this cozy house again. The back door handle was broken and we called in for a repair but no one came to repair. Other then that minor issue, the house was very lovely. It has been a long time since we have been so satisfied with the cleanliness location and actual appearance of a home.

Great little place on the river! Simple place but has everything you need! Very nice modern kitchen and bathroom. This place has a nice living room and bedrooms, but unless it's raining your time should be spent outside on the huge deck with a great view. Perfect place for fishermen and golfers that don't want the hussle of the main lake. Walk down to great trout and bass water and 5 minutes from Loadstone and Wisp Golf courses. Bring or buy and wood/kinling for the fire pit in the back yard.

Perfect accommodations for 5 friends to get away for the weekend and enjoy some time on the slopes and in the hot tub. The location is peaceful and off the beaten path a bit, but that is what we were looking for to relax and enjoy out time together. The cabin is simple, ok almost too simple that it didn't have a wine opener, oh my! But a call to Taylor-Made solved that problem and they were happy to bring one to us and save the day! We look forward to returning here in the summer.

This is our second time staying here for Christmas and yet again it was a great stay. Small yet cozy, has character yet clean and the river in front is just beautiful. I think we are going to make it our tradition to stay hear every Christmas from now.

Perfect for a small family or a getaway for 2.
- Bryan W. from Arlington, VA, Posted: 09/17/2014
Brilliant location, perfect for couples or family of three
So quiet and private with river literally on your doorstep.
The neighbouring properties are second homes so only vaguely saw people on the weekend.
Hot tub is amazing, so clean and the view is just perfect.
Bathroom could do with some updating but not a problem and did not detract from enjoyment of property.
Second bedroom has no hanging space which is a real pain.
Master bedroom is a little dark, does not get much sunlight in but not a big deal.
Mirrors in both bedrooms are not very good, particularly the second bedroom.
All in all though we could not believe how lovely the property is and was sad to only be there a week.
Management property is very easy to deal with, not a single problem and felt vert safe and secure. Would return in a heartbeat if it was not so far away from us!!

We had a wonderful time on our trip and really, really enjoyed the Cross the River cabin! This cabin was clean, the perfect size for a couple, had all the amenities we wanted and since the surrounding homes are not rentals, we had lots of peace and quiet. Beautiful view of the river too! Our only complaint about the cabin would be the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable (at least for us). Other than that, it was a wonderful trip and I would recommend Taylor-Made, and this particular cabin, to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!
- Ann S. from Pittsburgh, PA, Posted: 07/08/2014
The house was beautiful and the sounds from the river were very relaxing and peaceful. The house is secluded from the main roads of Deep Creek but that just added to the charm of the property as well as keeping the noise low. Having the fire pit was also a nice addition....we were able to build a fire every night of our stay. The property description we read online was very accurate. There was also free WiFi and cable. The property was well maintained and clean. During our stay we went zip lining at Wisp, took several hiking trips through 3 different State Parks, went to 2 different beaches and went horseback riding. All of those things were a short drive from the house. The only things we would change was the mattress in the master was a bit uncomfortable and to level out the fire pit area.
- Megan B. from Etna, OH, Posted: 06/16/2014
This was our fist trip to Deep Ceek Lake and this house was a hidden gem. The house was immaculate, with a terrific, fully stocked kitchen. It's a little remote, maybe 5-8 minutes from the lake, but the plus is total privacy. The house sits right on the river and you can hear it as soon as you get out of the car. We fished there on our first night and caught several trout. Swallow Falls is a short drive away as well. There were a few cons, but not deal breakers at all : the shower was very dated and small with a strange (broken?) showerhead, there was no door or curtain on the closet in the second bathroom which houses vaccuums, etc, limited living room furniture (not even for a family of 4) and lastly, it would be awesome if there were a few chaises to read in on the beautiful deck. All in all, it's a total winner!

Enjoyed every bit of the house. Great view of the Yough River! Fire pit and hot tub were lovely. Perfect size for my girlfriend and I to get away for a long weekend. Swallow Falls State Park is a few minutes up the road with great trails and beautiful sites. Highly recommend!

As advertised!! Gorgeous views, great upgrades, quiet and private neighborhood. Perfect for a couples getaway or small family.
- Desiree M. from Williamsburg, VA, Posted: 03/12/2014
Cross the river was a great location about 5 mins to the slopes. They did a great job updating the house and still keeping it in its early 1900 feel. Would love to see a fireplace and more living room seating, maybe a recliner or a new sectional. It was just the two of us, but we still had a hard time getting comfortable to watch a movie. The mattresses could be replaced after all the best part of your vacation is getting rest, and we didn't get much of that! Our overall stay was great we will stay again.
- Anonymous from Greenbelt, MD, Posted: 01/22/2014
Overall the rental property was awesome. Only one suggestion is to have a additional couch or love seat in the living room. Having only one couch limits couples sitting together to watch a movie or to just chill together. All in all it was a great vacation and I'd definitely stay at Cross the River again!
- Anonymous from Frederick, MD, Posted: 01/07/2014
Nice semi-secluded house situated above the Yough River. Not a huge house but the amenities there are very nice, the kitchen especially. The deck overlooking the river provides a nice place to relax and just listen to the water. Definitely recommend this place and look forward to staying there again myself.
- Anonymous from Gaithersburg, MD, Posted: 12/29/2013
My family of four stayed here and we absolutely enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect. Wisp was 5 min from the property and restaurants and grocery stores were close enough but not too close so you still enjoy the peace and quiet. The property was clean and kitchen was sufficiently stocked so we rarely had to eat out. The house itself is not big but you can go outside and enjoy the decent sized backyard and the firepit to keep you warm and roast marshmallows. We will definitely come back next year. One suggestion: please keep more pillows as existing pillows are flat and not so comfy.
- Derek L. from Baltimore, MD, Posted: 11/26/2013

If you are looking for a place that is peaceful and quiet this is the place. The view of the river is beautiful. Driving to the house seems like it is far away from everything but it is still worth it. The house has a lot of old time character.
- Monica S. from Pittsburgh, PA, Posted: 09/09/2013
Cross the River was above and beyond !! Taylor -Made check in and out simple and easy. They provided wonderful information to help an out of town guest experience the best of Maryland. The property was beautiful, inside and out. It was close enough to state parks and restaurants but far enough to feel secluded. Cross the River felt like home as soon as we opened the door. Will definitely be returning and spreading the word!

Excellent rental and getaway! Loved being so close to the river and away from the hustle bustle. Great back porch and fire pit. Very cozy and clean inside. Thank you!
- Anonymous from Baltimore, MD, Posted: 06/15/2013
We loved the home and enjoyed our stay very much, but were disappointed that we were not closer to the river. There is a stairwell which leads to a road that needs to be crossed to get to the river. Hence the name, however once across the street it is too steep and has many large rocks that prevent access to the river. The closeness to the river was the reason we chose this place to stay. The picture is misleading.
- Alexis R. from Lincoln University, PA, Posted: 06/11/2013
This property was absolutely beautiful! It was a short drive into town, but the house itself had plenty to offer. The owner and the people from Taylor-Made were very professional, helpful, and super nice. Will definitely stay with them again!

- Anonymous from South Park, PA, Posted: 05/07/2013
Great time. Wife and I went down for anniversary and just wanted some quiet time alone. Nice and relaxing view. Stores are still close by, neighboring houses are close too but were unoccuppied for our weekend which was good. Only big complaint/suggestion is to make sure you tell the front desk that you want to be warned ahead of time before maintenance comes to check the hot tub. Its right outside the master bedroom doors to the deck and we were "not expecting company"!
- Anonymous from Bowie, MD, Posted: 04/30/2013
My husband and I spent his birthday weekend at Cross the River, and we LOVED it! Taylor-Made's customer service is unmatched. From reserving the home, to checking in, to checking out, everything was super easy, and the staff was friendly and very helpful. Cross the River was EXACTLY as described and was even better than we hoped. My husband and I especially liked the full kitchen and our ability to spend quiet evenings relaxing by the lake. Everything we could possibly need (and then some) was provided for us. We wouldn't change a thing. THANK YOU, Taylor-Made for making the weekend truly unforgettable.

The view of the river from the house was gorgeous. The house itself was warm and inviting - and it was cold outside! Our stay was only two nights but we enjoyed the site, and the two restaurants in Oakland were very good values. We hope to come back in spring or summer.

this place had everything we hoped for on our weekend getaway. the rental company was also helpful in getting a snow plow out to our remote road where otherwise we may have been stranded the day we were checking out. we would definitely come back.

We had a fantastic time at Deep Creek and highly recommend this location. The cabin was in great condition and its rennovations in the kitchen were especially nice. The view of the river is unmatched in the area. The only warning is that in the winter this propertly would have been difficult to reach if we did not have four wheel drive. But the drive was worth it.
