We stayed at Oak Leak Lodge last week and everything was perfect. The house was clean, easy lake access (once you get used to the hill!) it was exactly what we were looking for and the price was right. We would definitely use this rental again.

Although the weather wasn't completely cooperative, we enjoyed our stay at Deep Creek Lake. The house, Oakleaf Lodge, was pretty, large, and had everything our family needed to enjoy a week at the lake.
The kitchen/dining area/living room is a great central location to be together and we really enjoyed spending time there in the evenings and roasting marshmallows at the huge fireplace.
The porch is large enough to accommodate a group meal, but without enough seats for more than 6.
- wonderful view of the lake and dock from the porch
- only 1.5 miles to the State Park
- hot tub: we used it every evening to warm up after swimming in the lake. Appreciated the locks for safety from young children.
- convenient parking: 2 spots are on the same level as the main floor of the house. 3 additional are down an additional staircase from the main profile photo shown.
- plenty of wood for the living room fireplace with a convenient pass-through to easily stock the living room directly from outside without carrying the wood through the house.
A few areas of improvement:
- steepness of driveway: for elderly and guests with physical challenges, please note that this driveway is very steep from the house down to the dock. Most in the area are similar, but worth noting.
- dishwasher: the soap wouldn't fully dissolve and the top rack gets weighed down and prevents the water sprayer from spinning. We rewashed most loads and had to hand wash more dishes than we cared to.
- more dishtowels, please (two isn't enough for a full week)
- sunroom seating: we enjoyed the bright morning light in this large room but were disappointed that there was only seating for four people
Ultimately, we would recommend this house for other guests looking for a comfortable and peaceful stay and easy access to the State Park.

We had 7 adults and 4 children and were happy with the layout and cleanliness of the space both to gather as a family and also to spread out and have some quiet time. Our first impression was that the house was nicer in person than what the photos showed.
Upon arrival we were disappointed as we did not realize the property was on a extremely steep driveway and snow was on the way. Highly recommending 4wd doesnt clarify the grade however the snow was plowed the day after the storm.
One last complaint, the master bedroom located next to the main entrance has a major failure with the shower door getting stuck. This really needs to be addressed as two guest were stuck for some time.

We had a group of 10 and were loved it! There was plenty of room to socialize or hibernate in your room. Aside from the centeral air each room had an electric heater which was very convenient. No one wanted to leave after our 3 nights were up! The kitchen has everything you need to to cook. HIGHLY RECCOMEND TOILET PAPER, TRASH BAGS, AND TOILET PAPER.

We loved the house. Very cold in the living room but they do provide firewood. would definitely stay there again.
Minor negatives- Could use a deep clean, dishwasher did not work well, no sharp knives, beds not comfortable except in master which has an overlay.

Nice location. Great dock and lake front area. House was in good condition.

we rented this for my wife's surprise 30th birthday with family and friends. very spacious and clean will visit again soon.

Our stay was exactly what we had hoped for. The home was cozy and the views were beautiful. We would recommend new couches in the family room, they were quite shabby.
Great Girls Weekend
OakLeaf was perfect! We loved the deck and view. The dock was perfect. The beds were very comfy and the only complaint is the WI FI was spotty and TV could be updated. But, we will be back for sure! Lovely place, very homey.

The house was clean and well stocked. The beds were not all that comfortable but they were sufficient. The hot tub was not in good working order. It is a steep climb from the dock but the water is great as is the lake front property. We like to have camp fires but the neighbors complained about the smoke.

Overall great. Only downside was very steep driveway.

What a great weekend. Other than a quickly corrected issue with the hot tub, the house was perfect.

We celebrated my husband's birthday with an adults only get-a-way to Oakleaf Lodge. Everyone enjoyed the amount of space it offered. Private with beautiful views...
- Shantee B. from Silver Spring, MD, Posted: 02/02/2016
We arrived Friday night the weekend after the big 2016 snow storm. the driveway had been plowed but there was still a sheet of ice under what snow remained. there were no lights to illuminate the steps that were also covered in ice and snow. the one lighter in the house was empty of fuel. there were no matches to be found. and no real trash bags in the kitchen. we made it work and the next day the snow melted, unfortunately revealing beer cans and cigarette butts from the previous occupiers. despite all this it was a great weekend and the house was awesome. it was a quick drive to the slopes. despite a few short comings I would still recommend this house.
- Tom O. from Lutherville, MD, Posted: 01/19/2016
This house was wonderful. We traveled with three other couples and a total of 5 children. There was plenty to do. The views were great. The lake is just across the street from the house. The only thing I would recommend is supplying seasoned wood. We could not keep a fire going because all the wood provided was too wet. We would be interested in renting this house again for a stay during the summer months.

Oakleaf Lodge was ideal and met all our needs. We enjoyed the view, the hot tub, fireplace and gathering by the lake. The kitchen was small but sufficient to prepare a large turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. The next day we all hiked swallow falls. In one word our visit was "wonderful".
- Evan F. from Arlington, VA, Posted: 09/24/2015
We had a great time staying at Oakleaf lodge. The location was perfect - right on the lake with a little dock for swimming and a firepit for roasting marshmellows! The living area was very nice. We'd stay here again for sure. The property managers were responsive to our requests/inquiries. My only complaints are that the hottub didn't really work and we had to go buy some basics like dishsoap, handsoap, etc.

We had an excellent stay at Oakleaf Lodge. The house is in a private setting (but not all alone) and in a good area of the lake. We fished and tubed in the cove where the house is located, and it was perfect. The house may not be very large, but it is extremely well designed and very comfortable. Our big group had plenty of room to roam without being crowded. Nice deck. Very clean. Would highly recommend. My only comments were that the hot tub could have been better maintained (i.e., cleaner water) and the house sits very high above the lake. It is a long and tough hike up the hill from the dock to the house. It was not a problem for most of us, but we had grandma and grandpa with us. There is a gravel driveway that would allow a car to travel all the way down to the dock (and to a private boat launch area), so you could shuttle folks in a car if you have anyone who can't make the trek.

The house was great it fit our needs perfectly. Taylor Made was very responsive to our needs and concerns. We had a wonderful vacation. Thank you!
- Karen M. from Pittsburgh, PA, Posted: 07/24/2015
The pictures do not do this place justice. Everyone had their own space, the hot tub was lovely. Can't wait til next time.
- Brenda A. from Warrenton, Va, Posted: 06/29/2015
Oakleaf Lodge was great!!! It is better than the pictures!! They thought of everything. The kitchen had everything we needed. The ambiance of the place is outstanding. We will definitely stay there again.

We had a pleasant stay at Oakleaf. The house has everything we were looking for and a really cozy feel. The fireplace is absolutely amazing.
- Corrine J. from Landover, MD, Posted: 03/04/2015
It was my first couples retreat and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Even when we got snowed in the house was so big and comfy with the over sized fire place and good sized bedrooms for adults. We want to come back and visit again in the summer.

We arrived at the property and were simply amazed at the views. The lake was frozen over and people were out ice fishing it was exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing weekend. The hose is gorgeous and very spacious. We fell in love with the fire place and had that going both days. The kitchen was stocked and had everything we needed to make our dinners each night. The rooms were perfect and very comfy. There simply is nothing to complain about this property. As noted when renting this property 4WD vehicles are recommended and that is indeed the case when it snows. We had a blast at this location and would definitely stay again and recommended it to future renters.

We had a wonderful time at the Oakleaf lodge. The house is very clean, spacious and well stocked. Our group of 12 fit perfectly and the giant fireplace, hottub and firepit were awesome.
- Anonymous from Huntingtown, MD, Posted: 12/02/2014
The property is nice, the style was just what we were looking for, rustic with a big fireplace. The layout was nice but there were steps in many places, steps down to the kitchen and sun room, that were a problem for our elderly guests. The dishes had to be washed before we could use them witch made extra work for us during our holiday. The snow was quickly removed from the drive and outside stairs. Overall we had a good time and would rent the place again.
- Ben S. from Harisson city, PA, Posted: 09/16/2014
We had a great time. The house was in great shape, the hot tub was clean and the grill worked great.
- Anonymous from Huntly, VA, Posted: 08/30/2014
This property had the perfect setup for our family of young adults and teenagers and was very reasonably priced. The hill down to the lake is pretty steep. If you have people in your group with health issues you might want to think about renting a golf cart, but it was great exercise for our crew.
- Anonymous from Marianna, PA, Posted: 07/29/2014
This is the most well equipped home that I have ever rented. Fully stocked kitchen. Our family had a great time...although not a toddler friendly home with sunken kitchen and step down to sunporch.
The street is between the house and waterfront, but there is very little traffic even on July 4th week. The location on the lake is ideal: very quiet, short drive to shopping and restaurants, the State Park and not on the main open lake where there is more noisy motor boat traffic. Nice balance of convenience and privacy. We said many times during our stay that we were very lucky to be in a home that met our needs so well.

We rented this house for a family reunion vacation: grandparents, parents and 5 children ages 6 to 12. All adult couples had their own bedrooms and there were two bedrooms for the children. The living, dining and kitchen have an open floor plan, but there are two steps down to the kitchen which could be a problem for some people. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The deck is very large with ample seating and includes the large hot tub. The view to the dock and the water is lovely and not encumbered by trees. The parking is on the hill below the house as well as at the house level so it is easy to bring in groceries. We enjoyed campfires and swimming and canoeing from the dock or beach. At the end of the dock the water is deep. It is quite a climb from dock to house so you do need good knees.

Great location. Home was nice. Needed a good spring cleaning.
- Anonymous from SILVER SPRING, MD, Posted: 05/03/2014
Overall the stay was great. The living room is amazing with a nice big fireplace. Kitchen was very spacious. WiFi password kind of hard to find, its located by the phone in the master bedroom. The house and parking in itself is amazing. I do however wish that we had known that the hill to get up to the house and down to the street is very steep even for 4x4 trucks and when coming from the right the turn is very sharp. But other than that everything was wonderful.

Loved the lakeside fire ring and dock. Quiet area. Home was well appointed and clean. Wish there was hand soap provided.
- Anonymous from Port Deposit, MD, Posted: 08/24/2013
Overall great vacation. House was comfortable, clean, and we had plenty of room. Location was great, and very quiet. May be a little difficult in winter due to steepness of driveway. Access to water with vehicle very limited, used boat ramp at State Park which is a short drive down road to launch jet skis then tied up to dock at house. Hot tub appeared to be leaking, had to call maintenance several times to come and fill it up because there was no outside faucet or hose. They came without hesitation.

I along with 9 others stayed at Oakleaf Lodge in Deep Creek MD for a total of 3 nights. I was very satisfied with the house and its amenities. The staff was clear on what essentials we needed to bring and what would be provided, which enabled us to easily prepare for the trip. I would love to stay there again!

Was the perfect weekend getaway.

Although the Harvest Moon is a big house it has a very comfy cozy feel. The main living area being so open allows everyone to interact with each other. The sunroom is a great get away to read and relax. The veiw of the lake is beautiful. Our family had a great time.
- Elizabeth C. from Smyrna, GA, Posted: 08/28/2011
Overall house was in great shape and accurate as pictured.
- Susan P. from Waldorf, MD, Posted: 06/25/2011
Loved that the property had a wonderful view from the large deck and a boat slip, the only downside was the steep climb back up to the house from the lake. The house was large and roomy and in excellent condition. Loved that the master bedroom was away from the other rooms. I would rent Harvest Moon again.
- jennifer c. from Fairfax, VA, Posted: 01/20/2011
My stay at Harvest moon was wonderful and relaxing. When I arrived I had noticed that all the faucets were working except for the kitchen. I called the front desk and they had someone come out right away to fix it. (The line was frozen, nothing major.) The customer service is excellent! This is the second year I have booked with them and I get even more impressed every year. The houses are beautiful and so close to Wisp. Till next year!
- Monick L. from Fort Washington, MD, Posted: 12/28/2010
The house was beautiful! The location was a little ignoring because of the snow. The master bedroom had plumbing problems, which was not good. But overall the house was great!
- Anonymous from Bel Ail, MD, Posted: 09/14/2010
We had a good time at Deep creek lake and we enjoyied our stay at this house everything was great except for the propane grill that we used. Some one should fix the igitner on the grill, it does not work you need to light it with a match. I find this to be unsafe.

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Deep Creek Lake at the Harvest Moon house. It was located very close to the lake (only needed to cross a road) and was large enough for 9 people to fit comfortably. The kitchen was a bit small, and the master bedroom's toilet had running hot water in it. And we had an issue with the hot tub which we called into the property owner. The owner said someone would come out to fix it that night, and no one came. Also, they asked us if it was alright to show the property to potential buyers while we were still in the house, which was a bit odd. But otherwise, it was a great house and I'd highly recommend it to anyone with a larger group or family.
- Anonymous from Chantilly, VA, Posted: 08/03/2009
Over all we had a wonderful time at this house. Everything was working, the kitchen was well equipped, Beds were nice and clean. The master bedroom was ideal for a handicapped chair. I would go back again.
- Anonymous from Bethel Park, Pa, Posted: 02/25/2009
The house was beautiful and location was easy to find. There was a major concern with the driveway, it was extremely steep and if it would have been salted I'm sure it would not have been a white knuckling experience leaving. Despite being in low 4 wheel drive and in first gear, we slid a good 4 feet. It should have been salted. The master bath had little water pressure with all hot water which made it impossible to shower. I have rented otehr houses in Deep Creek before and did not have to come down to the service center to sign papers and write down a list of names, I thought that was inconvenient. Other than that, the property managers were very accommodating and pleasant.
