Wolf Den Run State Park totals more than 2,000 acres. It is the most recent addition to Garrett County's public lands. At one time it was privately owned and was used for off-road vehicles (ORVs). The existing trails have been improved and new trails are being developed too. It is open for ORVs, hiking, hunting and fishing.

The park is named after a stream within the park. It goes back to a 1901 Maryland Geological Survey Map. The stream flows through the northern section and into the Potomac River.
