How long have you lived in Deep Creek? Born and raised; I am a native to Deep Creek Lake. I was born in Oakland and I am currently raising my two teenaged girls in McHenry.

What are your hobbies?

Besides being a busy sports Mom, this area offers over a handful of parks to enjoy a hike, geocaching, swimming, kayaking, camping, or people watching. I enjoy packing up a cooler and going on an adventure around the area with my girls, pup, and family.

Favorite thing about the area?

People come vacation where I live. The clear nights with stars, wildlife, nature, and almost perfect weather for any season.

Favorite Local Restaurant? I love eating at all the local restaurants! Moonshadow for the farm to table and entertainment. Archies BBQ for a big pulled pork sandwich with brisket fries. Mountain State Brewery for microbrew and an oven bricked pizza, while enjoying the best view for a sunset. The dock access at UNOs/ Honi Honi for the view of the lake, big yard for fun games, having a drink while listening to music. Trouts House for amazing seafood prepared to enjoy at home. Deep Creek Pizza for super yummy taco pizza to take on a picnic or eat at home.

Favorite Season? Autumn

Favorite Local Events?

The Autumn Glory Festival! It is a home coming and a many day event.

If you only had a couple of days to spend in Deep Creek, what would you recommend doing? (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter)

Spring- go for a hike at Swallow Falls, horseback ride, enjoy a boat ride

Summer- get on the lake early in the morning with a kayak or watch the sunrise from Traders Coffee House. Spend time at the Deep Creek Lake State Park with a packed cooler. Enjoy a drink at one of the many great places. Have a bonfire.

Fall - drive around to look at the amazing foliage. Go Fishing. Chairlift tour at The Wisp or Mountain Coaster Ride, visit sunflower fields

Winter- walk on the frozen lake, ice fishing, snow tubing, sled riding

What is the most common misconception about DCL from out-of-towners?

That the area is just the lake. There are amazing little towns that make up the area, each having great restaurants, art, views, and their own charm. I highly suggest visiting them!
